![]() Even inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Metal Demons' erstwhile god, there is evidence of that damage. Throughout the Photosphere, there have been hints of the damage sustained by age and a crash landing. Some, indeed, flicker for longer than they should. It is a distinctly mechanical process, as they flicker online. The lines all across the floor begin to light up. you join me for-" And then her voice changes inflection, to something raging and dark, and devoid of any hint of gender, sanity, or goodness. Her voice is soft and melodic, as ever: "Good. Whatever ARM or spell keeps her floating, it is not apparent. The monstrosity floats over the center of the central platform, where her body curls to a curved, horn-like point. The rest of Mother is a thing of curved horns and spikes, of alien armor that resembles a crustacean. A porcelain white face mask, like a human woman's, looks down on them impassively. The mask-like face, which had appeared a few times inside and outside the Photosphere, is the most familiar. Mother's features are accentuated, rather than hidden, by the darkness. The darkness casts long shadows, which both fall over and from Mother. There are clear, glowing lines of light all across the floor, which are placed in intricate patterns, but all lead inward towards that central platform - save for two circular indentations on the lower tiers. A short set of stairs - no more than a meter high - lead up to that platform, upon which Mother's chassis rests. The lower one, which the Drifters enter upon, is a ring about a central platform. As they rush through the room, they find a place clad in darkness. Today, a well-sealed door will not stand between Drifters and their prize. A few have raced through cavernous chamber where the Golem stood guard, towards a single stairwell at the back, rising to a door that has already been blown open. Lolithia felled, some Drifters ventured down into the Gutter. The innermost citadel of the Photosphere is a place only, until today, seen by Metal Demons.ĭesperation means that such a momentous occasion is unremarked upon.
